Sunday...

Guess I am feeling homesick a little. Missing my best friends and family... But Cristian, my boyfriend, is coming for a couple of days this coming week. Then after that my mom will be arriving soon for her birthday.

Today I'm going to the National Bridal Show, alone. I'm going to try to  talk to wedding designers in person, ask advice, for their story, maybe if they have an internship. I'm going with my resumes and an open mind.

Smooth Sailing Sundays...

Everything is going very well so far. I have met a variety of people. I feel a certain closeness with this one group and I find myself wanting to spend the most time with them. I am however a huge introvert at times and enjoy staying in my room and internet browsing.

My first week of school went well. It was induction week which means lectures and lots of explanations. I do have a homework assignment that I will finish up today. It was about researching London and New York Fashion Week and finding 3 different designers collections who showed innovation and techniques that could turn into future trends. This coming week things will get more intense which is good.  This week is also freshers week which means loads of student parties all throughout London designed for first year students to mingle and meet eachother. I wanted to not go but my group of friends are reminding me its good to have a balance......

It's raining today. The first real rain I've had here. Aka not wanting to go out at all. windows down and dimmed lights. Home cooked meal (hopefully) and lots of tea. That's the bedroom and kitchen view.

Day Before School

Today is the day before my first day of school! So crazy to look back at a year ago because this was the beginning of the downfall. I'm so excited for school tomorrow and am so grateful for my second chance. It is really crazy to look back at how far I have come personally from last year to this year. I am extremely proud of myself and ready to give this course my all.

I was very happy to skype at Dawn at Jovel's wedding yesterday. I always thought it was a bad idea because it would make me upset about the fact that I couldn't be there and be apart of it. However, it was comforting and I really am happy that I made the decision to skype because I really was very against the idea. The wedding was beyond perfect from my skype-perspective. I am so happy for Dawn and Jo it seemed to be such a successful evening.

The past week my friend Victoria from New Jersey who studies at my school has been staying with me. I've done random things, went to a free fashion show at The British Museum, went to Carnaby Street GQ Fashion Night and got free makeovers with Victoria and my Welsh friend Laura. I went with Vicky to pick out a cell phone- extremely long and annoying process... Went to buy last minute stuff like extra plates and a pillow from Shepherd'd Bush Market, the market that is located right next to my school in West London.

Today I was going to go to meet Dennis and Rhonda in Watford and go to Costco and have dinner with them. However I decided against it because I woke up late and was extremely tired from staying up late last night because of the wedding. I decided to just clean my room and prepare for school and have a relaxing day in. Vicky left this afternoon so I just wanted some quiet time and to clean my room.

Very excited for my first day of school tomorrow. Feeling very fortunate and grateful for my second chance and have really good feelings about the school year.

Aunt Donna

This post is dedicated to Aunt Donna, because she reminded me I have not updated this in a while..

I have been very busy lately. Purchased a printer, working on getting a temporary pay as you go phone because my iPhone is in some remote place, been food shopping, met up with a Jersey girl for lunch today, going to zumba class tonight... Tomorrow I have enrollment for my school. Thursday I'm going to a fashion show that is being held in the British Museum! And then monday is my first night of school. Things are going by quickly, but this week I'm really trying to go to a lot of museums and sketch and do research of fashion week just to get in the zone for monday.

Everything is all good. The Lady Gaga concert I went to was amazing!!! I got super close because I had standing seats. Her costumes were so impressive and the set was a flawless castle. It was gorgeous. I used a disposable camera (how RETRO of me...) because I had ordered a battery for my SLR camera off amazon and it had not come in time. She was very inspiring as always. I took Rhonda with me, she appreciated it too. Very happy that came together for me, it was a very special treat. Lady Gaga always inspires me and gives me a boost.

Summary

Last couple of days have been really good. I've met a handful of really great people that I just enjoy the company of. They tell me how sweet I am and how shocked that I really did click with a handful of Brits. I am not surprised though because I guess I am a chameleon in that sense. Not the sense of changing myself every time I introduce myself to people of a different culture, just the ability to really gel with mostly any given culture. I am proud, it is a skill!

Last night was Fashion Night Out. It was really such a good night. I discovered a new part of London, New Bond Street. Housing all of the big name designers and their beautiful display windows filled with luxurious clothing. My friends and I got a drink inside Alexander McQueens store and Daks. Very nice free drinks I might add. Daks was also kind enough to provide us with delicious free popcorn. I thought I'd like the goat cheese and black pepper the best, but the toffee and apple cinnamon really was delicious! Alexander McQueen on the other hand had me drooling over their stock. The colors that were in that store really were edible. There was one wall full of fuchsia dresses and I literally could not take my eyes off it.

And now for a random side note: I've decided I miss my cats so much and that even more than that I just miss animals being in a city. So I am going to check out this animal shelter and see if I like it. It would be nice if I was able to volunteer at least once a week while studying.

Mingling

Mingled today with people from my halls. Successful night. They all loved my yellow hair :). I have plans to go out with these people on Fashion Night Out. So exciting.  :) Tomorrow Rhonda is coming over to drop off some of the stuff I left at her house. That means room pictures to come once everything is fully homey and christina-fied.

Im just so ready to give this fashion course my all. I really want to kick so much ass that they didn't know what hit them. I want them to say" Christina where have you been hiding all these years... you are the full package, you have your future made."

Shopping....

Went food shopping today to get some basics...

Also went to the zoo... also known as IKEA to get some storage bins, an alarm clock, and dishes.

It's almost six now and I'm eating a satisfying meal...

Whats on the menu tonight: Bowties with kale and a side of carrots eaten dressed with goat cheese and balsamic dressing. Eaten with the help of my trusty SNORK (spoon-knife-fork).

Move In Day

Moved into my student housing today!

Funny name for a student accommodations I know. I have to admit transporting my stuff from my hotel was SO HARD... just kidding... Good ol Gina happened to book the hotel right across the street from the flat. After unpacking clothing and toiletries I did some shopping. I purchased a bath towel, some push pins, desk organizers, a toothbrush holder, a pillow, and sheets. I won't post pictures yet until the flat feels like it's fully my own. I am still waiting on a suitcase and a couple bags from Rhonda. She has most of my posters and little things from home with her still, so until then I'm keeping you all on your toes.

Now since I'm Italian I will go straight to discussing the kitchen... ITS HUGE! We have a dinner table that is longer than mine at home, and a huge couch! I mean the room is large! The stove is a good size... We have TWO refrigerators however the refrige part is so small... I don't know how it will fit 8 people comfortably. Yes you read correctly, I am living with 7 other people. I saw one today. I said hello to her in our hallway however she was so frazzled and in her own little world. She is asian and I'm not saying that had anything to do with it but she definitely did not hear my hello where as the accommodations man assisting her heard me and shot back a friendly hi.

Right now it is 8:15 and I am in my room eat couscous from the Tescos Express right outside my flat. The convenience store pretty much carries everything from cadbury chocolate to cheese to cat food to couscous! My plans for tomorrow are to go to a larger food store and stock up on canned beans, tomatoes, and other Italian kitchen necessities, obviously. I think I'll also check out an IKEA for additional storage bins.

Random event of the day... I met a girl from PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY! Didn't have time to get anything more than her first name because we were both on the run, however she seemed nice as far as I could tell. Crazy coincidence!

P.S. this couscous is not that great. Looks like tomorrow night I'll be cooking a home made meal. Oh wait no, I need my pots from Rhonda. MEH.
